When we were at Birsay beach we had a land art competition. Here are the things we made. Please vote (on the top right of this page) for which you think the winning piece of land art should be. The poll closes on 2nd June.
Everything was made with natural materials we found on the beach.
What would you make?
We liked all of your pictures but our favourite was the puffin. We thought it looked just like Patrick Puffin who went to Trinidad.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you all had a nice time.
Class One
I like all of them but think the spiral one is really nice. I like the orange stones, the use of different sizes and seaweed. Well done to all of you

I am so glad you had such a good day in my favourite place! I love your land art, especially the way you have used the natural materials and colours to make your creations.
ReplyDeleteI liked all your art work and especially liked how different they all were. It's difficult to choose a favourite! Well done all.
ReplyDeleteGreat Art! You are very creative - does that mean you are all ART SMART? You have given me some good ideas for how to spend time making Art on the beach in the Summer, thank you.
ReplyDeleteWow! What sooper dooper creations. A very difficult choice but I think I'll have to go for the perfect puffin - coming from Shetland and all that. Well done all as they are all amazing.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing all your land art works of art. I love the one made with just stone. I thought it looked like a whale. It gets my vote even if it is a quad bike!

I think all of these creations are superb! I can't pick one I like the most as I like them all!
ReplyDeleteWhat people who have not done land art will not understand is the time and effort it took to find the materials that you used to create your sculptures. You had to spend time searching on the beach, looking for different colours and shapes so that you could create what you wanted. By doing that you learnt a great deal about the beach and the things that you find there. That part of the process is very important.
If I really had to choose then I think I really like the Puffin. The coloured stones in the beak are really excellent!
Thanks everyone, you have inspired me to get out and make some beach art myself as I haven't done that in a while!
Keep up the good work.
Richard
Fantastic Land Art, well done everyone, it is very difficult to chose a favourite beacause they are all terrific.

Well done everyone, never knew such good pictures could be made out of things lying around the beach. My favourite has to be the puffin with all the details and colour too ;0)
