Land Art at Birsay - please vote in our poll

When we were at Birsay beach we had a land art competition. Here are the things we made. Please vote (on the top right of this page) for which you think the winning piece of land art should be. The poll closes on 2nd June.

Everything was made with natural materials we found on the beach.

What would you make?

Learning outdoors

We've been making the most of the good weather, taking our learning outside as much as possible this week. As well as MADD5 when we went to Muddisdale, we also did some other lessons outside.

Here we are listening to and talking about the story of Persephone from Ancient Greece.

We went outside to write our blog entry about MADD5.

Our coastal show and tell was another thing that was good to do outside.

This is a seal's skull - some people thought it was great and some people thought it was horrible!

We planted some seeds for the 2010 Year of Biodiversity.

Some people go to Gardening Club. Here we are weeding and planting in the courtyard. We've planted lots of flowers and vegetables.

We're hoping for more good weather next week, especially for our trip to Birsay!

An important message about marine litter

We are not happy about the damage marine litter does, so we worked with Ms Mackay to make an animation to tell you about it.

An animation by Class 3/4 to tell people about the dangers of marine litter

Do you know how we made it?

First we had to plan the story and make the creatures.

Next we recorded the animation.

Then we had to decide which instruments to use for each creature.

We rehearsed ...

and then Mr Geddes recorded us.

We hope you enjoyed learning about our animation - and that you learn from the important message in it.
